About Me

Hello. My name is Andy Rutledge and I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science.

GIS Workshop

I am a software programmer and co-owner of GIS Workshop, Inc. which is based in Lincoln, Nebraska. I specialize in building GIS software that involves some sort of spatial analysis. I always say GIS is "maps on computers" to laypersons. You can read about a few of the applications that I have developed on the programming page.

I enjoy watching sports. My favorite sport to watch is baseball and my favorite pro team is the Chicago Cubs. I've been a fan of the Cubs since I was six years old and have become a rather devoted fan in the last few years. I'm also a fan of Nebraska Husker baseball.

I also like to watch football; my favorite team is (naturally) the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I've come to enjoy pro football more than I used to; I don't really have a specific team that I follow, but I always root for former Nebraska players.

I also enjoy playing sports. I'm in a weekly bowling league, and even took home the gold medal in the 2005 Cornhusker State Games. I play softball during the summer with our office softball team. I've also been known to play ping-pong and badminton from time to time.

I love music! I like jazz, swing, classical, and most of all, hard rock. I also play the guitar just for fun a few times a week.

Music I enjoy:

What's somewhat discouraging is that nearly half of those groups have either broken up or died.
[Dave Barry Pic]

I'm quite fond of the writings of humorist Dave Barry and own a number of his books. His somewhat crude, yet intelligently funny columns never cease to make me laugh. His writing speaks for itself, so if you'd like to read it, click on over to the official Dave Barry website. It's a shame he's not doing a weekly column anymore.
